Sharad Sagar In Gujarat • June 2017

In less than six months, Sharad Sagar made his second trip to the Indian state of Gujarat. In his weeklong visit, Sharad traveled to multiple cities in the state addressing thousands of individuals at several public meetings, forums, schools and faith organizations, held public meetings with young people in different cities and delivered his historic TED Talk at one of Asia's largest TED conferences, TEDxSurat.

On June 04, 2017 in Surat, Gujarat, Sharad Sagar delivered his TED Talk titled "The Next World Leader". In less than 24 hours of going live, the talk was watched by over 100,000 from all across the world, making it one of the highest watched TED Talks of all time.

Hundreds of people, especially the youth, gathered at the venue to speak to Sharad after his inspiring talk. While some wanted a selfie or an autograph, others just wanted to thank him for his inspiring words. Thousands of messages, notes, comments from all across Gujarat flooded Sharad's inbox in less than few hours.

On June 05, Sharad made a road trip to the historic city of Vadodara in Gujarat. In Vadodara, Sharad Sagar stayed at the Dilaram Bungalow, the historic place where Swami Vivekananda stayed in April 1892. In 2014, the Honorable Prime Minister of India (and the then Chief Minister of Gujarat) Shri Narendra Modi had handed over the bungalow to the Ramakrishna Mission.

As an esteemed guest of the Ramakrishna Mission, Sharad Sagar delivered this lecture at the historic Swami Vivekananda Memorial Lecture Hall. The lecture was attended by several hundred people at the venue and watched live by several thousand across the globe. When the video went online, within three days it crossed over 1 Million views on Facebook.

Divya Bhaskar, a leading Indian newspaper featured this speech among the highest trending videos of the country and it was ranked #1 for several days. The prestigious newspaper called Sharad Sagar "Swami Vivekananda of the 21st Century", a title often used for Sharad and very popular among India's youth since then.

Sharad also addressed young entrepreneurs and Startup CEOs at the historic MS University in Vadodara.
